Return Of Premium

Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company (F&G Life) has introduced Saver's Select Term(SM), a powerful new term life insurance product, that gives consumers the advantage of an optional Return-of-Premium feature that can ultimately give them a full refund of all premiums at the end of the policy term.

Saver's Select, with its two underwriting bands - Preferred and Standard, also allows life insurance agents to sell a premium rate with confidence. "The benefits that this product offers to agents and consumers are outstanding," said Harry N. Stout, president of F&G Life. "With our excellent premium rates for smokers and non-smokers, a short, simple application, and no blood work required from applicants through age 40 for premium amounts up to $500,000, an agent can sell this product with a great deal of confidence. " Stout continued by stating, "This policy is easy for clients to apply for and allows agents to earn better than average income by placing a customer focused life insurance policy that has long been missing in the brokerage term marketplace."

Saver's Select Term features other flexible options for policyholders that include 15-, 20-, and 30-year term periods with a level death benefit; and premiums guaranteed for their choice of 10 years or, for an additional cost, the full term period.

There's also a host of other riders to choose from, including an Other Insured Rider, Disability Income Rider, Waiver of Premium Rider and an Accelerated Benefit Rider. In each particular contract, the other riders chosen may affect the specific amount and timing of the money returned to the policyholder at the end of a term when a Return of Premium option is chosen.

"Add it all up and you'll find that Saver's Select Term has the right mix of features to make it one of the most distinctive products in the marketplace today," said Stout. "This new offering exemplifies F&G Life's longstanding commitment to recognizing customer wants and needs and responding to them with innovative products."

Saver's Select Term is ideal for homeowners, married couples, and business owners who are looking to fortify their financial future. This type of term life insurance can be especially helpful in safeguarding the future of a business by covering loans, business owners, key-persons, buy-sell agreements, and other business-related exposures.

A Tale Of Two Agents

Captive Agent

An agent working exclusively for a single firm. He or she is obliged to submit business only to that firm, or at least give that firm first rights of refusal on the case.

Captive agents that are non-established are usually paid on a combination of salary and commissions earned from selling the policy contract. Also, the firm usually provides its captive agents with an allowance for office expenses as well as employee benefits such as pensions, life insurance, and health insurance.

The established captive agent is usually paid exclusively on a commission basis.  This type of agent will tend to have more in-depth knowledge of that firm's policies, however, he or she will hardly ever be equipped to offer the industries' best price on any particular product offering.

Independent Agent Broker

Simply said, independent agents are appointed to sell policies from many insurers. The agent is independent from all the companies thus, the independent agent's responsibility is solely focused on evaluating the client's needs and the pricing of the product chosen.

While searching for the brokerage market's best place for a client's business, independent agents pay all their own expenses and keep their own records and earn their income from brokerage commissions on the policies they sell.
